That David Jolly story is not surprising in the least bit. People think Desantis is "Trump without the baggage" but they ignore that that also means he's Trump without the charisma or likeability.

Trump had friends in high places for decades that were powerful endorsements and donors in his presidential bid. Even other Republican politicians from Florida don't fukk with Desantis.

And any pro player in any sport is a freak of nature. I’d argue the ability to hit a small ball coming in at 100 mph out the damn ball park is something that can only be done by freaks of nature.

The whole "natural talent" vs "hard work" narrative. That's why he used the term "meritocratic" to describe baseball, as if basketball players don't work hard to earn their positions...

He could have just stopped at baseball being a democratic sport with a place for everyone who works hard, but he just HAD to take a thinly veiled shot at Black people.
