I was responding to the part of him getting fired too soon.

Dan was always trying to use the Florida job as a stepping stone into the NFL, but failed. Then he quiet quit. That's why he got fired. It was never his dream job. Hunchback is from the northeast, if anything Penn State is/was his dream job.

Wish we never hired him. Should have hired Lane in 2017 instead. If there's a case to say that Florida might be a coaches' "dream job" (they're all mercenaries let's be real) it probably would be Kiffin of all people. Yes he's a merc, but he has ties to Florida's program and the state that a lot of coaches don't

I don't know if Lane really has any ties to the school other than his ex-wife went there & his son has it on his top schools. Interestingly enough, he doesn't have Ole Miss on his list.

The ex-wife is the main direct tie.

Some lesser ones, he idolized Spurrier. But a lot of coaches probably did so that's not the end all be all.

His dad made his mark coaching at Tampa, so that's some ties to the state, but not UF specific.

I'm talking about how Dan's dream job wasn't UF when someone said it was his dream job.

But to say that UF was Dan's dream job is as stupid as saying that UF is Lane's dream job.

They might have both wanted it, but it's just a stop for a goal for them personally. Dan was to get to the NFL, if Lane goes there it would be to achieve his goals.

They're not giving a black coach the time of day lol. They have insane expectations in the SEC and wouldn't tolerate Franklin winning 8-10 games, not winning the SEC, not winning big games, etc.

SEC schools ain't hiring Black coaches unless the school is down...like way down and just wants a spark.

They would expect a natty by year 2. White coach would get 4 years, maybe 5.

Georgia fired coach Mark Richt today after a disappointing 9-3 season, as strange as that sounds.

Already the move begs the question, as it was posed numerous times in the last several years whenever the possibility of getting rid of Richt came up in conversation: OK, but who’s next?

Several names already have surfaced, but one that sticks out within SEC circles is Mississippi State coach Dan Mullen.
