The key is to stop resisting the thoughts and trying to make them go away. Thoughts are a part of meditation. Thoughts are natural activity of the mind.
Exactly.
The idea that you're supposed to stop your thoughts completely or block them out is a cause of suffering for those that take up meditation. Even once you know the nature of thoughts you still have a tendency to cling to them. Masters of meditation don't get rid of thoughts, they let them pass..."stream of consciousness" is to be taken literally....try stopping the water in a stream from flowing.
I think part of this error is the idea that thoughts are in our heads, or rather generated by the brain which is not the case IMO. Thoughts are pulled into your own field of awareness from outside.
Meditation is a way to experience inner silence but it doesn't come from eliminating thoughts, but by becoming aware of the silence that is naturally present in your mind along with the thoughts. If 10 seconds is the best you can currently muster than meditate in increments of 10 seconds. Meditation doesn't have to be some long tedious task. There are also various forms of meditation you can try where you focus your mind and attention directly on something instead of just trying to eliminate your thoughts.
Easy way to find that silence that sits behind thought.
Sit back, relax, take a couple deep breaths....and simply ask yourself, out loud or in your head "where is my next thought coming from".
does marijuana help open your third eye?
It can, but your intent is important. Miss Mary is a teacher, a lot of nikkas attend class but don't listen...feel me?
I would suggest vaporizing or ingesting more so than smoking, as the combustion can do harm to the throat center which is also important and relevant to your interests.
