If you'll be in DC, then start with Ben's Chili Bowl. The food isn't great (it's a tourist spot), but it's one of the most iconic Black-owned spots in the city. You can't come to the DMV & not go to Ben's.
I'll give you 3 more places in the DMV to check out, depending on where you plan to stay:
Oohhs & Aahhs - DC
Carolina Kitchen - MD
Della J's - NoVA
Nice one

Try the tourist stuff like museums…that African American one is super dope. You won’t see everything in one trip, but it’s def worth a visit.

H Street got some nice bars and restaurants (I like Copycat Co. nice lil “hidden gem” with delicious food)

U Street is nice at night. Check out the National Harbor as well.

If you really brave, Uber over to the Southeast side of town. Take a scenic walk down luxurious Minnesota Ave. There used to be a cultural exchange site called Barry Farms, they loved linking with new folks like yourself.

Check out downtown by the Verizon Center, nice places to eat Hen Quarter, Jaleo, China Chilcano. Plus the mall ( where monuments are) is a nice walk

Benning Road offers more cultural exchange. That’s in Northeast. The people are friendly, especially when they’re all hanging out and crowding the neighborhood. They love interacting and learning cultural differences with visitors. Tell them where you’re from, the welcome will be unforgettable!!

Shop at one of the many outdoor plazas and some nice malls in VA (pentagon city) plus lots of outlets and “Mills” (Arundel and Potomac) enjoy your stay and good luck. Hopefully they don’t give you a Kia or Hyundai rental

Be safe tho

Shaw and U Street is the mecca of black culture in D.C.

Shaw is one to many black owned restaurants including soul food. Howard University is there.

U Street is called Little Ethiopia. Along this area, you'll find a lot of Ethiopian restaurants. Nightlife is also found in U Street

Adams Morgan, 14th street, Gallery Place and Colombia Heights also got a dope nightlife scene

Adams Morgan is a multicultural neighborhood focused on the happening nightlife scene around 18th Street. The stretch buzzes with eclectic bars, music venues and international restaurants from Vietnamese to Ethiopian, plus late-night pizza and falafel spots. You'll also find a lot of art murals and art galleries along this area.

Make sure you hit up Pentagon City & Tyson's Corner Malls.
:whoo:Woahh those malls are massive. On my first day I'm definitely going to first check out the Pentagon City Mall, then checkout the Wharf, however I did want to know are the people pretty chill there and what bars would you recommend to check out?

Any place in the Shaw/U Street section of DC.
Arlington is right outside of DC, so you can hop on the Metro (I think you bruvs call it the tube) and ride to Shaw/U street. You can literally find any race/group of people to drink & party with there. Also, the variety of music you'll hear at the spots there is :ohlawd:
