Is Copping The Silent Hill HD Collection Worth It Brehs?

I heard they really fukked the HD remakes somehow...haven't played so I can't comment for sure, but Silent Hills 1-3 are the best damned survival horror games that I have ever played. Silent Hill 2 is especially a damned classic.
Yeah, 2 is a masterpiece. Easily beats out any RE game created in terms of scare factor and story.
I would recommend trying to get the originals but if it's not that serious with you the hd collection will do but it's not a perfect port by any means. Not enough to rob you of the overall experience, though. Tomm Hulett changed dialogue for no apparent reason, certain music cues are missing (but if you have never played the games you wouldn't be missing much), certain cuts scenes are not sync properly and again the music is missing from some (the patch has apparent fix that but I having played it since then). Silent Hill 3 is way too dark even on the brightest setting and in certain spots makes the game unplayable even if you are familiar with the game.
Silent Hill 2 and 3 are definitely worth playing if you into survival horror but the hd collection isn't the best way to play it. The Xbox version of the collection had the least problems definitely cop that version if you do go the hd collection route.

I had gotten the HD collection for 360 free from some site many months ago and sold it. I heard it wasn't that good of a port but I sold it because it was actually too scary for me. The ambient sounds, atmosphere and chilling background music turned me off on the game completely. Plus I wasn't feeling the clunkiness of the game.

Haunting Grounds was kind of close though.

Sorry, yeah, what mvp said. Basically the games were originally intended for PS2 so they had to rewrite parts to get it working on PS3 and for several reasons, that process went poorly and the PS3 versions ended up being worse than the PS2 versions.

A port is when they move a game over to a new system...and yea..the best bet is to get the originals cause they fukked the HD ones up...like for instance in the 2nd one they cleaned the fog up too much and it showed glitches n shyt...the 3rd one didnt have as much issues tho...but just cop the originals...if u can..if u cant...the hd collection is good enough...but get it for 360 cause they fukked the PS3 versions up...I was pissed cause the games originated on the PS2...
