i convert Flac files to 320 mp3 files.that way i know im gettin the real 320 mp3 quality.

There's a program called Media Monkey you can use to play lossless files on your computer. Much better than Windows Media Player imo.

If the CD release had that raw sound, then the FLAC rips will too.. Or are you talking about tapes?
