I don't understand this logic.

Are you saying the players are soft? Are you saying the game is soft because they are "trying" to change the culture?

Im confused.

People are saying the game is gettin soft because of how it is being officiated. These BS helmet to helmet, defenseless player penalties and fines are ridiculous

The refs are in a tough position, but if we want this thing to continue the culture has to change
just means they soft compared to what the nfl used to be.

those dudes used kill each other :wow:

literally :merchant:

No one wants this though

That's a penalty today. That's also the only way you can stop the ballcarrier in that situation. Go figure...

Safeties can't patrol the deep zones like this anymore. The Great Ronnie today would owe the NFL child support money :beli:

I think some people do :manny:

I refuse to believe people there's people wanting killing themselves for their enjoyment.

I think their are people that hold on to whatever myth that makes the game more enjoyable to them

Man, if you want to change culture the penalties have to be harsh.

And safeties can still do their jobs just fine.

It doesn't matter how many fines the league dishes out, how many penalties are called, they can't change the culture of football the nature of these hits.

The only reason why the league is crackin down on hard hits and head shots is because of further lawsuits and litigation. But the league only acts like it gives a shyt about player safety when they really don't.

If the NFL cared about player safety why do they have Thurs night football, why is the league trying to push for an 18 game season? :beli:

Football is a contact sport and a violent one at that. You can't take that out of football

We JUST saw Rolle deliver a Ronnie style hit in this Vikes game and he got a 15 yarder for it. And I couldn't care less about changing any culture. Everyone knows what they sign up for playing a sport where other humans are crashing violentley into each other at high rates of speed. At some point human beings SHOULD be smart enough to realize this ain't exactly how the human body supposed to be treated, so those who still choose to go through it (myself included) don't need to be protected against themselves. And we shouldn't need all the neuro-research in the world to tell us football ain't safe and can lead to head problems to trigger some phony "trauma awareness" campaign.

If humans couldn't have realized decades ago that playing this sport at a high octane level could lead to bodies that break down later in life (which they do on their own anyway), then maybe as a species we're not as smart and mentally evolved as we think.

No u are wrong breh. Safeties jobs are extra difficult these days with all these new rules. Even football analysts, ex coaches and playrs have all said this breh. I don't think u get it

You know what's really funny though? There's actually a rule in all levels of football that prohibits spearing. Once you teach players not to spear, you'll pretty much eliminate hits with the crown of the helmet. One thing I can give my high school coaches credit for was to make sure we didn't spear, cause they played when that rule was enforced. Of course they also played when you could clothes-line a ball-carrier and hit the QB as violently as you could anywhere on his body.
