For Americans, is there anything that would make you leave the country? And if so where would you go?

America is cool to a certain degree. The real question is if you made 150K remote, would you live in a top 10 city in Amerikkka or another city?

I
Another city globally for sure, I'm only 26 my son is 3 years old, but after he turns 18 and I retire at 45 I'm not gonna be living full time here, theres so much culture out there. I was just in Amsterdam during Christmas recess and it was dope. I'm going to London next this july.
I dont really care about "they fought for my right to be here".
I got money, my own agency and legacy, while I respect the past im not beholden to it.
This country is not special barely even feel like home... so nah I REALLY dgaf

I’ve already lived abroad before, so yes, I’d live in a different country.

Cons of america:
- the most important is its expensive. idk how ppl make it especially if u make less than $80k

-because it’s expensive, seems really tough to raise kids which i want

-the food is unhealthy
-healthcare
-lotta unhinged ppl
-family isn’t valued much… too individualistic in my opinion
-not much job security. Feels like a hamster wheel most of the time
-very competitive
-women are not that fine on average.
-full of simps

Pros:
-definitely the land of opportunity
-you can meet a lot of ambitious ppl
-Americans have a confidence about them that isn’t seen in most of the world. Many have a “can do” attitude
-lots of support for business ventures
-roads, infrastructure
-great schools (if you got the money or brains)
-passport
-can make a lot of money
-great business market
-you can craft the life you want in America (especially if you got the money)
-America has the most progressive blk folks in the world

I could digital nomad it a bit but I have loved ones here I care about so it would never be permanent. Plus as mentioned in this thread this is my home.

The huge advantage people dont talk about with America is that we aren't near any major global conflicts due to our geography and relatively safe in terms of natural disasters. Im in Mexico City visiting and while I'd consider staying here for a few months, the city is on a bed of seismic activity and earthquakes happen here. I was also in Oaxaca and they're experiencing a drought now. Its easy to romanticize other countries but they introduce their own problems too.
Man México City got some of the best food Ive ever had. U lucky bro

This is not true at all, america doesnt have the most progressive ANYTHING .
Europe has black folks too, and the way they view sexuality, feminism multiculturalism etc is way different than here. I'm not saying it's not racist but its def more open and accepting

I would have left a long time ago if I didn’t have a wife and kids.

I would probably bounce around SE Asia for a few years.

yes. im not tied to a country. i know who I and who my people are. my first responsibility is to my family and ensuring they are safe and comfortable. i'm not interested in them experiencing any hardship.

part of my family's story is the underground railroad. abolitionist and escaped slaves abound amongst my ancestors. their stories converged in lower ontario canada where they built their own communities to be safe havens for those looking for freedom.

my line eventually came back into the country settling in detroit and chicago, however, my grandmother and her siblings all still have dual citizenship and we still have extended family in a string of ontario communities right outside detroit.

we even go back every year for the buxton ontario homecoming.

my siblings and i are in the process of purchasing land in ontario north of sault ste. marie, on the shores of lake superior to build a cottage/hunting lodge for us. but it will double as a refuge for our family if we have to get out of the country.

we're looking on lake superior specifically because if roads shut down, we can get out of chicago into canada by boat, up lake michigan where you enter into lake superior.

:jbhmm:.. You think so? I visited many European countries and cities... Correct me if I'm wrong, but I say that America has the most progressive blk folks because USA is pretty much the only place I've seen black folks represented in all areas of life, from the president to mayors, governors, doctors, scientists, astronauts, middle class to upper class neighborhoods, etc. I know black folks in America have a longer history of being here compared to Europe. and only recently have blk folks in Europe been making strides...much of their inspiration comes from Black America and Black American movements

Blk America has also pioneered a lot of Black movements and inspired others...from Brazil to Kwame Nkrumah, the former president of Ghana, changed his views after attending an HBCU and became more of a pan-Africanist

I'm all ears... brother. multiculturalism...idk breh... I still see black folks confined to certain areas/sectors in Europe--Portugal-they're mostly cleaners. Italy don't want them. Met a black Girl from Germany and told me she has never seen a blk teacher.

Yeah Europeans don't have dreams of being millionaires like Americans. They definitely PAWG more out there. That's a fact
They do view sexuality differently...probably cuz prostitution is legal :mjlol:
