When draft time comes around, this word is never used to describe players like Dejaun Blair, Patrick Patterson or somebody like Bargini

You only here it for players like Gerald Green, Terance Williams, Derrick Williams etc

So you If you are not super athletic you don't have a large upside?

Derrick Williams wasn't drafted based on freakish athleticism though.

The threadstarter is right thought. Players who they say have a high upside usually are athletic or fast or both. And players who they say are a finished product or safe pick is usually a below the rim player who is known for the fundamentals or a specialty than having tremendous athleticism.

It's true to a point.

It's a lot easier to "learn" to hit a jumpshot or some fundamental skill then it is to change genetics and suddenly be quicker, bigger, or a more explosive leaper.

An undersized skilled PF is never gonna be 6'10 no matter how much work he puts in. While a PF who is already 6'10 could theoretically become more polished and skilled with lots of work and practice.
