For Kendrick's next album, he has to work on the writing

All that dense language seems like a crutch to me. Damn near every rap artist in interviews talks about how they had to learn to stop trying to rely on crutches of being too wordy and evolve into being better writers.

TPAB was so excellent because it was consistently a Kamasi Washington/Terrace Martin affair. They know how to make the vibes mesh on there sonically...and easily 70% of Kendrick's lyrics are unintelligible. Even when he performs you can tell that dude lacks punchlines, serious metaphors, or any of the other traditionally expected wit of a artist of his ilk. Its my biggest criticism of him.

You know he's capable of it too. I heard him on Kanye's album and a few features where you know he can stop trying to be so wordy, let the beat breathe, and rely more on skill than magic hand-waving to carry him through the song

Hell, even a Lupe class on, "learning how to say more, with less," would help him. I dont want to see him turn into another Eminem relying on impressing white boys on how many words he can cram into a verse instead of what he's saying actually carrying the song's message, whatever that may be, along.

he's not capable. And he knows that if he 'slows down' with the dense language, it becomes more obvious that he can't say anything impressive.
I kinda feel like this might be his weakness and he knows it too.

But again, he's said some impressive shyt here and there...but you can tell that if he did slow down, people might not be as impressed?

Its like...he wants to be Twista, but lacks the information or content density to compensate for the speed he's trying to rap at.

I actually do think his writing could be better, I'd like to see him cut out a lot of the weaker parts and try to be more potent and consistent. I hear him and sometimes he has some dope or good shyt, then he sometimes fukks it up with something cringeworthy or wack/poor/ineffective. I think if he could learn to be more consistent throughout would be better. I find it off putting you're trying to listen but someone keeps coming with poor lines, even if it's among something good or with promise, even more so if it's not delivered in an effective way, can make it even worse. I would like him to improve, but my concern has been some gas him up so much will he have the desire and hunger to get better? Not sure but hope so.

He actually doesn't have to change anything because he is successful regardless.

This dumb down mentality is what ruined rap lyrics. And Eminem just rhymes words he doesn't make music with the same potency because he never matured his subject matter... Still sounds like a hurt teenager.

Its annoying as hell is what it is...dude might have 60% raw shyt in his rhymes and the other 40 filled with absolute aimless pointless banter that just serves to fill those syllable spaces that impressed people who think "flow" means "rhymes" and imply that to mean you're a "good rapper"

Its super offensive to my sensibilities.

Kendrick could remove easily 40% of his content and still deliver the same message. His wordiness affects his performance art, and ultimately his "replayability."

Without production and choruses, Kendrick is severely lacking in the departments that draw fans to artists in the long term....and i'm not talking about his stans.

nikka stfu, Kendrick dope and makes a ton of sense.
who said he didn't make sense?

I understand what he's saying completely.

I'm pointing out that he's trying to fool people with all of those theatrics vocally. Its a waste of lyrics to hide the fact his verses can't be as potent without all the filler.
