Durag is more critical... u can only brush so much; durag acts as a "brush" when you arent brushing

Prime time for waves is college or high school if u can wear a durag all day.... thats really the key, as well as getting your barber to cut your hair with the grain and to your "wavelength"

If they cut it too short or cut against the grain they fukk up the wavery.

Also for some people different parts of their hair have different "wave lenghts"... i.e. your hair on top might have big 1" waves and then on the side they will be like 1/4" to 1/2"... so your barber has to cut the different sections to the different lengths

shyt very scientific....... if I didn't have a full time job and wasnt going bald my shyt would be out of control. I was spinning pretty hard in college once I figured it all out... just water, durag, brush and I would cut my own hair.

Well everybody's hair is different. I know me personally I wash washing my hair damn near everyday even though people said it would mess up your waves. :manny:
In retrospect, that sounds so stupid. How the hell are you supposed to shower and not wash your head just for some waves? That's right up there with clowns putting egg in their heads. Dumb s h i t advice.

but in the event that you don't have "natural" waves, a durag might just help :mjpls:

using both in conjuction will help get waves breh. Waves ain't nothing but extremely curly hair trained to lay down on its side so that the natural curl forms a pattern. Your brush does the main work, and the durag just helps to train/reinforce your pattern. LOL at a durag being nothing more than a fashion accessory :pachaha:
No one in the history of ever woke up, took off the rag and just went about their business. You always brush again in the morning so do you need the rag? No. You don't NEED it at all.

1. Figure out which direction your hair grows and wants to lay down (with the grain) *MOST IMPORTANT
2. Get some pomade
images
(DON'T USE TOO MUCH!!! THE MORE YOU USE THE MORE YOU DAMAGE YOUR HAIR)

3. Brush in that same direction in step 1 all around your dome - 360
4. Wear a wave cap or durag at night
5. Wash your hair with some conditioner/shampoo once a week
Repeat steps 2-5 until your waves get luxurious..

The Truth
Brush, pink lotion, durag

When I get a cut, tell them to go with the grain (most black/Latino barbers know this) and leave a lil on top

To get that spinning-waves mess, you got to get more in depth but I'm too lazy. Just brush it

tell me where I said a durag is mandatory? :dahell:

I said that shyt helps train your hair pattern how to lay, and I'm speakin from experience fukk ass nikka. Yes I brush my hair when I took the durag off, but that don't mean a durag ain't doing nothin. Quit arguin with me and go sit yo ass down

As long as your durag color matches your outfit and your shoes, you still killin em :smugbiden:

:myman:

On a side note durags mess my hair up if I wear them too long, when I wear them to sleep I wear a durag on top without tying it and put a wave cap or something on top. both are usually off when I wake up but it works.

Also, you can run the durag under hot water before you put it and the wave cap on, and it will give your waves a nice wet look especially when your hair is long, I use that because I dont use pomades and it helps it stay laid down.
