Lol. If you only want them on top just keep the sides and back low/brush the top everyday. Depending on how soft your hair is you'll wave in like 1-2 weeks. Took me a week to get dipped on the top and my hair isn't even that soft.

You don't even need to durag if just for the top. Waves are played out tho
