1st year in the Army at Ft. Carson, CO. Was at the barracks and walked passed someone's room who had their door open and saw all wiping tears, literally. I at least thought someone we knew done passed away from some kind of car accident or something... then they said 2pac got shot. And it took me off-guard because we just at that point viewed him like he was immortal or some shyt.

Then a week later... EVERYONE was listening to his albums as if he was some kind of prophet and the damn "he's not dead" rumors and him being in Cuba started floating... and a GANG of bootleg unreleased shyt was hitting stores. I still got one of those tapes too.

Now when Biggie died... it wasn't so much of a shock but a disgust of how all of them came to be and now BOTH being killed just 6 months apart. And the reason it didn't feel like a shock around the people I was with at the time was because we pretty much half EXPECTED it would happened after 2pac's death. A LOT of people in the rap circles were extremely CAUTIOUS and outright SCARED of their lives due to what happened. Even Biggie's song and the intro prior to Going Back to Cali felt precautionary like... you SURE about going to Cali... it was pretty much a FEELING that it was going to eventually go down with the death of Biggie. It was PURE disgust that it actually happened the way people FEARED it would....

shyt was surreal, me and my cousins walking down the street talking bout how he going make it and come back talking mad shyt...they were on the news talking bout how he was expected to make a full recovery ..go in the house turn on MTV and they talking bout rapper/actor Tupac Shakur dead at 25..those following months just felt like a dark cloud was over hip hop, when biggie died wasnt even so much shock more like damn biggie too? Any body could be next
