For some reason, recently I've been reminiscing heavy on them Krit/Spitta/DZA years

Cause it’s classic shyt. I miss those years too honestly. Never had a shortage of fire.

fukkin right breh.

Crazy shyt is, I didn't even realize those years was over until I randomly played Etc Etc the other day and was hit with a sudden flood of memories and emotions, then sat back like, "damn, that's another classic era of Hip Hop that's no more" :wow:

It actually all started when I played Playground Legend, which IMO is an all time great Hip Hop record, then I fell down the rabbit hole..

yeah man good times that whole rugby joint went hard though. schoolboy was a problem on ashtray

interesting times because you had these young dudes doing all this boom bap (when lex luger reigned supreme) that never sounded like it was imitating the past. they were actually forging new ground

I remember checking 2dopeboyz damn near every day and getting dope shyt from Spitta, KRIT, etc. That was also back when Cole, Kendrick, Wale etc had dope shyt on the blogs too. Remember XV lol? What a time.

People forget Wale did a mixtape with 9th Wonder back then.

Personal classic era. My sophomore-junior years of college. The release of a lot of this music coincided with me getting my first smartphone so it was all accessible.

Wiz-Curren$y-A$AP Mob-TDE-K.R.I.T.-Cole-Odd Future-early Drake-Cudi-Wale-early Future-Big Sean-The Weeknd...dope time, dope crop of artists.

That was the last time period where I tried to keep up with new music.

Same here.

I know he’s not looked at highly but don’t forget SGP. Blackland radio was crazy strange but good

True. He deserves his credit for the re-emergence of that 90s lo-fi, bass heavy, horrorcore Memphis sound. He’s a lot of these SoundCloud rappers’ O.G.

Also, shoutout to Dom Kennedy

Word. Can’t forget L.E.$ also

Yeah, I feel the same.

I try and keep up with the Griselda movement and most of their copycats when I can, but it's not the same feeling.

This was the last era where I still felt like a fan, anticipating dope shyt, checking the blogs everyday, and holding out hope that the music they were making would change the game.

This also was around the last time I was a regular smoker, and right before I made the transition to certified old nikka status, so I'm sure that all played a part as well.
