My wife's pops had left her moms, so when we were dating, I mainly dealt with her mother. I had no problem with dude, I don't know what happened between him and my wife's mother to cause him to dip with her friend. He lived out in Jersey, and came by to see them periodically, so I never really had much dealing with him on a constant basis. When it was apparent that we was getting serious, my brother in law pulled my coat to the fact that the pops was expecting me to chop it up with him about marrying her. On the one hand I was like :childplease: "nikka I don't even see you like that", but then I was like :manny: thinking "ain't no need of causing drama when there ain't no need". So I went ahead and called the nikka up, had a 5 minute conversation with him, and that was it. I get along great with him now; he comes to visit, and I'll take him out to eat or whatever, and he does the same when I go down to visit in FL where he lives now. Funny, my wife looks at me like :wtf: when she sees how me and her pops are so cool even though he dipped out on her moms with her friend.

I didn't ask for his permission...

But I let him know I was going to ask her :obama:

I never tottally understood that tradition fully, I mean I was gonna ask her regardless if I had his permission or not. Not that I'm disrespectful or anything but if he would have said no. I would have been like "Okay" :rudy: and did it anyway..

I felt like letting him know was the right thing to do though
