I’m 35 and been hooping since I was 5. I done played thousands of pickup games in my hometown of Atlanta and all around the world in places I’ve lived. One of the main rules that’s been different everywhere is the And-1 call

You go for a layup, get fouled and say “AND-1” but MISS. The way I grew up it’s a miss and you keep playing, and-1 is only respected and counts if you make the bucket.

It differs from city to city and gym to gym, how did you play growing up?

Where I’m from And-1 is more of a flex, like u fouled me and I still scored weak ass nikka.if u miss u miss tho. You only do it to break the mentals of the weak ass defender…

“And 1” is not the same as calling foul. If you miss but say And 1, then it’s a play on. If you make it, bucket is good
