Have you ever considered that it may be simply because you're attaching too many meanings to the word?
"That's just someone that I know from (school/work/other)."
"That's just an acquaintance."

A true friend is like a brother.Its a bond.I remember reading about Alonzo Mourning and Patrick Ewing and how when Zo needed a kidney that Patrick was gonna give it to him (Before Zo found a donor). Thats a true ass friend! If you got a homeboy who wants to give damn near his life for you,practically the God Father of your child,the cat you trust to raise your son if you passed away.Of course you and your homeboy gonna get into fights and arguments but thats any friendship.Like I said there is a thin line.Brothas out here gossipin about dudes,borrowing $ and not paying it back,taking each other's women thats not friendship.Also gotta distinguish the line between ASSOCIATE and FRIEND. As you get OLDER and in some cases WISER it becomes difficult to find a true friend these days.Think about it how many people (non fam) have your best interests.How many would give you a liver or kidney?Exactly not many.Yea everybody needs a friend,but we all need confidants right?

how you gon tell me the levels I choose the people I associate with is nonsense? You have people at levels for the reason you see fit and I have people as I see fit.
yo nikkas are those who you've know for years, got crazy stories with, ride or die and trustworthy. Friends are new people you meet and hang out with slightly, yall are just cool with each other. Once dat friend save my life or help me get out of a tough situation they get bumped up to "my nikka" status.
Outside of my husband, I can't name anyone I would want to deal hang out with for an extended period of time and I'm perfectly fine with that.
At this point in my life I realize that if someone doesn't want to be friends, I wouldn't give a single fukk

lonely ass internet nikka. Can't relate to nobody within 300 miles and can't nobody I'm surrounded by relate to me.

I honestly have only 1 friend that I think I can completely trust with my deepest feelings and thoughts.
And I've known him since I was 9 years old.
I have a lot of other truly wonderful great friends.
But I don't think I can trust them 100% percent. I hope that wouldn't be insulting for them to know that though.
