For those who're 30+, what were the top 3 lessons that you were taught by your 20's experiences?

Take care of your mental health. There is no shame in getting help for it.

If you feel after a while that a job is not for you then leave, don't sit there and try to grind it out on the daily over the years just because it makes you good money. Work related stress is cumulative and will kill you slowly, shyt it can kill you quickly if you try to cope with it by drinking/smoking/drugging everyday.

- You’re gonna HAVE TO learn how to be okay with being by yourself. Doing things by yourself, learning things by yourself, being comfortable by yourself. Because there will be many times you will be alone.

- Protect your body. You only have one, and you’re gonna need it the rest of your life.
You are the only person in this world who can make sure you get all the food, sleep, exercise,
and care that your body needs - and when you get into your 30s, that chit starts falling apart.
But you can help your future self by protecting your body today.

RELATED SIDEBAR: Try your best not to get addicted to chit. Drinking, smoking, pills, gambling, sex, MILF porno, Facebook, whatever.

- Treat people like you might see them again, because you might. It really is a small world.
I say that to say things like “legacy”, “value”, and “reputation” are things we tend to relate to getting
older and being established; truth is, we define that as we are right now. The rep you have in your young life can follow you forever, for better or worse.
What do you mean by this:dwillhuh:
I just turned 29, and I'm confused:patrice:

Get an education - trade school, college...whatever. Everyone I know that's doing well did SOME kind of extra learning after high school.

Go to the gym. A lot of people slack off in their 20s and 30s. Just keep getting the cardio and lifting in. Don't have to be a fitness model but the exercise will make you feel better and is good for relieving stress.

Pay debt off, then save money/put $$ in your 401k, then invest money....in that order.

The Truth
Trust yourself/instincts

Grind young

Help yourself before anyone else

Believe in yourself because you will have enough people that don’t

People grow apart
You can't save everyone
Its ok to be selfish
People who go out their way to help you, HOLD THEM DOWN WHENEVER POSSIBLE
Sometimes the way you move on the streets is the exact same way you move in the workplace
Have some hobbies
Gym

these are all good ones

time being on your side is one of the biggest myths ever, it’s actually the opposite and time is against you that’s why it flies when you have fun and drags when you doing something you don’t enjoy so act accordingly, move expeditiously and keep things concise, prompt and accurate

i’m 30 and that’s all i got to add :manny:

Real talk, you need to learn how to build rapport with older white men who wear tailored suits.... literally all it takes. If they think “you’re one of the good ones”, they start listening closely to your aspirations, and then they want to help you.
Can you explain further bruh? I feel you on one hand, but on the other it sounds like c00ning..

Not c00ning. I’m just saying don’t waste your time even interacting with low level whites. Build quality relationships with high level whites. They have a higher rate of helping in my personal experience. I’ve had hedge fund managers who had mental crisis about buying their Princeton daughter a Porsche Cayenne literally ask me about my ideas and then tell me to come with a business plan, All off of rapport. Contrary to popular belief, white males 50 to 80 aren’t really racist on a Mano y Mano level. They just get sensitive if they think you think they are racist. You can take advantage of people who are “more powerful than you”....

this is where Nigerian Americans are fukking on point. They got game. Add that to work ethic and you do what you want.

In anything worth while start early, start today

Grab as much skills in your industry as possible, don't stay in a job more than 2 years without a promotion

Say yes to those trips and random adventures when asked

Travel by yourself a couple times

Don't move in with a girl without a solid plan of marriage within 18 months, you know you don't wanna marry her? don't do it

Never follow your woman

Join clubs and hobbies that get you out the house

Networking with Rich white kids in college definitely opened doors for me that wouldn't have been opened otherwise. Some of those opportunities have been life changing.

1. Get your social skills together now. The spoils go to the bold.

2. Make friends with people who will benefit you long term and leave the rest.

3. Don’t be friends with promiscuous people or cheaters. They have low character that will eventually turn on you.

4. Learn general tax laws. The amount of money people unnecessary waste on taxes is crazy.

5. Start a business.

6. Stay fit

7. Resolve your baggage. Don't be 40 still mad at your parents.

8. Pick your battles. Most things are not that serious

9. Try to avoid arguing with people you love or care about

Edit:

10. Get as much education as you can especially if it's free. Youtube is the new education system.

I’ve had something close to 30 “jobs” heading into year 36. Don’t worry about settling down into a job you don’t view as a career, get as much money from each stop as possible and move on to the next one. Don’t put every single one of your stops on your resume, prospective employers don’t care.
Like someone else said develop those hobbies and run them into the ground before kids and career show up because you def won’t have time, I haven’t logged into to psn in 2 years even though I paid for it already :snoop:

As a 33 year old physician

1. Don't waste your time in a serious long distance relationship

2. Invest now compound interest is the 8th wonder of the world.

3. Do intermittent fasting and workout (I see a lot of older people if you don't work out you will regret it later)

4. Get therapy or find a healthy outlet for your issues (like walking or working out)

5. Get a woman who is down for you

6. Focus on your studies by being black you can have a gateway into a lot of careers

7. Don't be afraid to cut off toxic baby mama's get a lawyer and just see your kid have a third party app where everything is recorded seriously lawyers are painful. If she makes the kid hate you then just pay support and find a wife to have children. Seriously you are an uncle dad at that point

8. Lost time is never found so do things that benefit you like working out.

9. Pick a woman who likes to workout as your spouse because if she falls off you will cheat on her.

10. Your health span is just as important as your life span if you work out. There isn't much you can do at 65 that you couldn't do a 30 and yes I say this as a physican. Keeping is shape does WONDERS

11. Get out of debt and get out of car debt. You going to have to live like your broke in your 20s. People clown Dave Ramsey but I'll say to invest $50 a month when you start paying off debt.

12. Get term life insurance and make sure you have a will (you never know when that time will come)

13. Live life as stress free as possible.
