this thread really needs to be in TLR, but i honestly don't see a productive conversation coming from it if placed there...but this is yet another reminder of why i cannot fukk with this "pandering to white people who deflected to trump" this oblivious race has the nerve to play victim and act like they've lost power, no, stfu, black and brown people just want a seat at the table in the middle, it's clear yall will never lose your #1 spot :pacspit:

:mjpls:
https://www.forbes.com/power-women/list/2/#tab:overall

About 6% of this list is black, 70% white, 24% east asian and indian...(rough breakdowns)

please stop telling black women about how much easier we have it, please stop ignoring that we face two battles, please stop the divisiveness that the net has seemed to promote between black men and women. we are both equally disenfranchised and need to be working together to better both our positions

Black women do not need validation from Forbes.

6% is more than I expected
well being that four are our biggest celebrities - rihanna, beyonce, sarena williams, and orpah - and the other two are the only ones to come from business/politics (ethiopian president), it doesn't say much for us. and being that the world is no where near 70% white, it reinforces their power structure and our disproportionate lack of inclusion

I'm going keep it a buck......

I've been around a lot of women that don't want extra responsibility of leading or being in management.

I used ask my mom why she stopped at vp when she has the experience and knowledge to be somewhere higher up on the board of directors.....

She wasn't interested in the extra work. :yeshrug:

right, but we're looking across all women who let's say have lower ambition than males, you'd still be able to rank who's the most powerful of that bunch, and BW aren't being let in even that circle which proves out how we're playing two or more steps behind - can't compete at the big boys' table, and being left out of the big (white) girls' table as well

That’s an anecdote though, there are plenty of women with ambition who would excel/be happy to move into the upper echelon.

That aside, I’ve been in workplaces where I and other women were actively discouraged and complained about by a VP for having ambition, taking on/creating extra projects, scoring new clients etc, but a white blond male colleague was getting promoted and heralded by the company for no other reason. You know it’s bad when a Managing Director tells you to your face at a holiday party that you’d have an easier time at the company if you were male and Blond/white.

and don’t even get me started on how upper management looks at women with children.

I have an uneasy relationship with white women but I can honestly say I was at least fortunate enough that my coworkers saw the management as a problem over me, def has a good relationship with most of my coworkers. But I had a difficult sales director who was female and passive aggressive af, it reinforces the unfair stereotype that women are harder to work with.

i'm never on that fukkboy black women hating shyt anyway.

black women are black first and then women. if i had a criticism of some black women it's when they think they have common cause with white women and it's the other way around: women first and black second.

The black women list is interesting, You would think a woman like Deborah Flint or Ayana Pressley would be on this list. No offense to Serena and Rihanna but none of these ladies move the needle on any political, economic or even social scale. When you name a powerful list shouldn’t their impact be felt?

While I’m not a fan of Kamala Harris she is the senator of a 3.2 trillion dollar California economy( Let me reiterate, a 3.2 Trillion dollar economy) That’s legit power.

Same with Ayana Pressley ( Huge fan of). She’s literally one of the faces of a political movement that has a tremendous impact on our country. This just seems more like a popularity contest than an actual “Poweful list”

I won't lie and I'm not hating. But what exact power does she have? How can utilize this so-called power? She's currently a freshman Senator and she certainly isn't the Gov of CA.

Who in their right mind would expect there to be more black women though. The overwhelming majority of Black Women are in Africa, poorest continent in the world. The only two African women are at the very bottom of the chart.

(And why is Ursula Van der Leyen listed as "Belgium", she's German)
