I still rocked with early Prince. Never got the appeal of Rick.
:whoa:

Do feel like we missed a dope twilight due to his prison stay tho.
He was supposed to carry the James Brown torch IMO.
I feel the same way. I was always into Prince and I was only 5 yrs old in 83 Rick James music just was never that good to me. Plus I thought he was too weird even though nothing about Prince's "whole get down" ever bothered me at that age. Once I got older I even tried to circle back and give Rick James music another shot. I downloaded his entire catalog from the 70s-80s, man I found about 5 songs i like from Rick James total....But I fukks with his production on early Teena Marie tho, he laced her

Yup, I rocked with plenty of other folks on the funk tip. But it was something about his work that was "offputting" for lack of a better term.

Why do you think he was so disrespectful in those Chappelle show skits?
He was that nikka and let that shyt go to his head. nikka was an a$$hole but was the man

Rick also was a boxer if I recall..being able to whoop ass AND having a motown record contract :wow:

His bravado definitely rubbed Don Cornelius the wrong way:pachaha:

Prince was too much on that sexual, gender bender shyt early on...

He toned it down when he became a JEHOVAH witness thankfully.

Prince bit this nikka whole style and he said he broke Elvis Presley record.

Prince bit Patrice Rushen and Little Richard’s style
Toni Braxton bit Anita Baker’s style
Brian McKnight bit Luther Vandross style
