Yeah Petit is the early stretch 4 blueprint.

100%, bro everything you can find on Petit tells you how smooth his game was; he was the bridge superstar between Mikan's Lakers and Russell's dynastic Celtics, that mid-to-late 50s era was Pettit's league and even when Wilt and Russell took center stage he was still Top 5, one of the guys right after them...

He's always on Top 50 lists when they come out, which indicates students/historians of the game respect his legacy, but he's never discussed in any GOAT topics, just think about the many GOAT conversations we've had on here and how many times have we heard someone salute Petit?

On resume alone he shyts on a ton of guys favorite players, and that was in an era before they gave defensive accolades (DPOY or All-D) or Finals MVPs. Everything we know about dude tells us he was dominant as fukk. There's no reason he shouldn't be more involved in GOAT discussions other than the fact most of Basketball Culture neglects anyone and anything pre-1980...

He coulda had the win but he missed clutch freethrows at the end that allowed fisher to hit the 3 to send it into OT where they lost. shyts gotta burn...that series was way closer than people remember.

The '09 and '07 Finals were 5 and 4 game series but were both much more competitive than they are remembered today...

My nod for forgotten Finals performances is the closeout '09 G5. Probably the best game I ever saw Kobe play, considering the stage and circumstances and if not the best, its gotta be in his Top 5. I think Magic were up most of the first half and then second half Kobe closed the door on em...

That Lakers Celtics game 7, Ron Artest gets a ton of glory but I feel like people don’t talk enough about Pau

He had 19 points and 18 rebounds, including 9 offensive rebounds against guys like KG

Pau is the typical Euro that brehs hate to give credit to. He's had various huge games in those stretches but people treat him like he's an afterthought when he was the number 2 on a back-to-back championship team.

It being a short series and also it being LeBron’s first championship overshadowed that the clinching game was the “Mike Miller game” where he went 7/8 for threes :gladbron:

The games before this he hardly played and had 2 points, 2 points, 4 points, and 0 points :hhh:
