so called blue states are more tenuous in their support for liberals than red states or even purple states are for conservatives. that's why you can have a ben hogan in maryland because the state is still majority white and he just has to be likeable and down the middle on issues that concern them and to the right on issues they don't feel concern them.
Facts.

However, in the case of Hogan the only reason he was even elected was because nobody wanted to vote for Anthony Brown. He was an uninspiring candidate to some and a less charismatic Obama clone.

Also the election took place right after the failed ACA website launch and Mike Brown's murder. Bmore wasn't fukkn with Obama or any Democrat at all and they stayed the fukk home.

Voted for Jealous yesterday. Baker did a good job for PG, but he would be a weak governor

Yup. White democrats are more likely to vote for a Republican thats "one of the good ones" than a progressive

Jealous will win if it's GOP opponent is about muh social issues.

Hogan is signaling he’s gonna frame Ben as an extremist

Ben is signaling a positive campaign and running to the people

It’s such an interesting contrast

Hogan knows he needs a third of the Dem voters to win and it’s a big task for him. He has $8M on hand

Ben has only $260k right now
