He absolutely has a point that after a certain time Kobe started getting picked based off reputation. Just in general, once you get stamped as a great defender the media is usually late when the defense regresses, he’s not the only one to ever get reputation or legacy nods

Teague was coming of the bench averaging 4 points when Kobe was an all defensive 1st team player, then he had an additional in the second team when he had a lot of injuries, that year Teague became a starter averaging 12 points

He makes a great point. I loved Kobe but he didn’t deserve a lot of those selections, he robbed Wade of several.
How can he have robbed Wade when Wade was merely selected for the second team 3x?
Two of which was when Lakers were the best team in the league and Miami, were well, not. While the third one Kobe wasn’t even selected at all.

His point was that superstars who have early defensive reps get nods so its not just Kobe-specific hence why he cited Tony Allen and not Wade.

Deserved or not, late in his career, Kobe got a lot of them because of his name.

If I was a mod I'd start banning threads like this. Jeff Teague says some of Kobe's all defensive team selections are reputation based is the actual title of the thread. You intentionally left out the name of player because he has a podcast with an official thread where shyt like this belongs and you left off the nuance because it would give you less clicks.
