Im not diminishing what the Rockets did, I just don't like the Coli rhetoric that its an undeniable fact they would have beaten the Bulls

Where the hell was scoring going to come from outside of Hakeem in '94? I watched Shaq get his against the Bulls in '96 and still get swept. Penny even had a nice series and it didn't matter

It was usually whoever had the hot hand. Some nights Kenny went off, some Max, some Elie, some Cassell, some Horry. Plus the forgotten man Otis Thorpe was usually good for 15 a night. Guys would be open with regularity due to double teams on Dream so usually a secondary player got hot.

Somewhat of a side note, Horry was an interesting match up at the time. The first year he was a sf but after the Drexler trade he was a pf. Dude must have been one of the first stretch 4s I guess. I'm trying to think of others at the time but I'm drawing blanks right now.

MJ & the Bulls beat Magic, Drexler, Barkley, Payton, Kemp, Malone, Stockton in the Finals

I got respect for Hakeem, but he would have just been another HOF Finals victim

:mjpls:

Very possible. I'm a Rockets homer but I've always thought the Rockets would've won one of those potential series. It would've been interesting to see what effect 4 and 5 consecutive finals appearances (that's how many there would've been at the time) would've had on the Bulls. That seems like an incredible amount of basketball for the same core to have to play.

Full disclosure that this thread is mostly about my 3 favorite players of all time: 1. The gawd, 2. The dream, 3. Mad Max (dude was legit Loco). I'm definitely enjoying this topic.

Slow down. I clearly said the Bulls would have been burnt out had they made it to a 4th and 5th straight finals in 94 & 95 and you talmbout they won 55 games which doesnt have anything to do with what i said....
I feel you, I see your point now. I got it confused with something else

No doubt. I think thats the ONLY thing that woulda been their road block was physical and mental fatigued. On the flipside tho....A Jordan led team is one id NEVER bet against. If he were to have got em to the finals, then that means he playing peak MJ ball.

@Charlie Broadway Im somewhat being a homer, but I truly do think the Bulls would have trounced the league in '93-'94 if MJ didn't walk away from the game

they won 55 games without him, and almost beat the Knicks team that took Houston to 7 games (should have ... Hue Hollins... :smh:)

add a prime MJ (who was putting up winshares of 20 at the time :wow:) to that team, and they certainly are a 65-70 win team that already had extensive championship pedigree

Of course the ATL
You laugh all you want but in hindsight we got our rings bro. You're word is not bon in this case as much as you want it to be. Yea Jordan/Pippen did they thang but the Rockets got it in and we decimated the team that took out your 95 Bulls. Bulls did not decimate any team that ko'd the Rockets.

I'm a Bulls fan now? :heh: Ask @Brozay @red222 @god shamgod about that. Nah breh, outside of the dominance of Hakeem what were those HOU teams great at? And would the thing they do best, have neutralized the GOAT & one of the GOAT SFs? I just don't see it. Respect to the Rockets championship teams, but the MJ Bulls are an all time GOAT team for any sport, do you really feel like the 94/95 Rockets were/are in that same class of champions? I don't

I think that's where Maxwell's comments really come from, insecurity about the value of their championships b/c MJ wasn't there.

it's a mystery I still say the Bulls win let hakeem get his but sadly we'll never know.

If this was 1st Take I'd be like SAS and tell you how blasphemous that last statement is. Don't you dare put Hakeem The Dream Olajuwon in the same class as ringless HOFer's like Barkley, Kemp, Stockon & Malone. How dare you! :comeon:

No point in arguing hypotheticals. It's a fact the bulls beat teams for the title that sonned the rockets in the playoffs multiple times(91,96,97,98) .Jordan was more dominant than hakeem and nobody was stopping mike in no playoffs.I do think attrition woulda got the bulls at some point probably 95 they wouldn't of won 7-8 straight
