Cars are 50k, interest rates are through the roof, houses are 4 times as much as they were 10 years ago, childcare, groceries…. And salaries are stagnant for the most part.

Having a kid is expensive. Probably to expensive for most people who want to keep living their same lifestyle.

My wife is taking me to tour a daycare this week that’s 20k a year…. For our one year old. AND she wants to have another baby.
Interest rates are very moderate currently. Yall need to stop comparing interest rates a decade plus out of the 08 recession with now. Lol

Have you looked into getting grandparents to baby sit. My mom loved babysitting my sisters kids till they were ready for school.

Home prices are too expensive. The boomers are hoarding all the wealth
I’m looking at median home prices of $762,000 in my area. Covid sent everyone out of the city and they all came up here to the seacoast and priced most of us out of the market.

Grandparents are all working... and really, the 20k is what it is. It's either pay the 20k or send him to one of the many "low-income" focused daycares around us. I'd rather pay the money for him to get the learning enrichment and social interaction.

Houses in my area went up at least 150 to 200K in 4 years.
No chance someone who just graduated from college can afford them unless they decide to go for less than 20% money down or parents chipping in with their retirement funds.
If they are married it means they will have to delay having kids for at least 5 to 10 years to save up.

They could always find a home they could afford away from you and your area. They could always apply for a FHA loan too.

Somehow we got away from this idea that you should stay within your means. Same goes for cars.. The overwhelming things we discuss as expensive are actually affordable. We just want we we want, how we want them. :manny:

It still amazes me when people with kids/married tell me to have kids/get married because.... Things have a tend to just work themselves out
:wtf:

The people who are making bread; lawyers and project managers who clear 100k alone easily without bonus telling me the same thing, the people who don't make bread; trade working Gophers with baby mama problems. Things just work out.

I want a kid but after what both my parents and my girl's parents went through, we both decide to chill until we start making a little more bread.

Honestly bread helps out but it shouldn’t stop you if you want kids. Kids are a blessing and they will motivate you to want to do better. Plus your not getting any younger and you don’t want to have them when your too old. They are right things do figure themselves out when you have kids. As long as you have a good partner who would make a great parent is a plus.
