A four-year-old Indiana boy has died days after he and his father were both shot in the head with the same bullet that discharged from a concealed gun while the pair were play wrestling.

The tragic shooting occurred Sunday at the family's home in Bloomington.

Tyler Shaw, 36, was wrestling on a bed with his son Tripp when the handgun he had tucked into the back of his pants fell and fired one shot.

The bullet struck both Shaw and his son in the head.

Tripp was taken in critical condition to Riley Children's Hospital, where he died four days later on Thursday.

Shaw was taken to IU Health Bloomington Hospital and is expected to recover.

The accident took place at the Shaw family's home on the 1200 block of East Zinnia Drive (pictured) in Monroe County on Sunday
The Glock semi-automatic handgun was sent off for testing to determine why it had fired unexpectedly, according to the Bloomington Herald-Times.

Officials have not said whether any charges will be filed in connection with the shooting.

In Indiana, a person can be charged with felony criminal recklessness if they 'recklessly, knowingly, or intentionally perform an act that creates a substantial risk of bodily injury to another person' while armed with a deadly weapon.

It was not immediately clear whether Shaw had a license for the gun or an open-carry permit.

Dummies throwing their money away even if everybody only gave $1. Irresponsible dad. Can't fully blame mom as she might not've been home, yet this wasn't his first time walking around strapped like that. Let them fools suffer. Emotionally, physically, spiritually and financially. They deserve every ounce of the pain and none of the support.
