As someone who has no prblem with remakes/reboots I understand others problems.

When I see a film thats beung remade or based on a book, I go out of my way to watch the original or read the book. Becauae the original or book are most often better.

However a lot of people dont do that. They just watch the renake/adaption and if its crap they just write the whole thing off.

Peoples problem with it is its crap then thats the only opinion some have of it. Instead of experiencing something great their only opinion is of this shytty remake and the name is tarnished.

But like I said, they dont bother me because for me it always puts me onto the originals I had never seen.

Its human nature. When we see something we like we want others to experience it and enjoy it. So remakes deprive some people of the great original and that naturally bothers people that just want others to enjoy the original.

Yeah I feel that. But I guess I just dismiss that part of myself when it comes to some things. When I went to the illmatic concert in september, there were two women behind us complaining because they were showing the Nas documentary before he performed, even though it clearly stated when you bought the tickets that would be the case. They were complaining and then they left. oh well, not my problem. If you don't enjoy something, won't stop me from enjoying it. Would a part of me preferred they stayed and enjoyed the entire show? Yeah of course but it's a very small part of me. I only get like that with people I know and care about

I don't like the idea of reboots, but my main problem is the idea of throwing money into an already existing idea when they can try and make something new.

Let's say the Luther reboot is cool, fine. But why have 2 versions of the same show (especially if both are in English, I get if it's an adaptation of a Belgian show...) when you could possibly have 2 completely separate and good shows.

I equate it (a little) to the CSI spinoffs. Why do the same show in different settings and say, "Hey, Neil Cross, Luther was great, what else you got?" instead of "Hey, Neil Cross, Luther was great, wanna do it again with Blair Underwwod this time?"

That type of thinking would have meant US audiences never got All in the Family, Sanford and Son, The Office, House of Cards, Three's Company, and Shameless. Those are just the shows I can recall off the top of my head that are based on UK shows.
