depending how it's done it could potentially be a dope series...
Problem is I'm not sure if it can be done well because the whole thing has a very "oooh Marvel/Disney has a TV show, we gotta get one too" feel.

The problem with that is if they're gonna try and jack the whole thing from the Nolan series Gotham wasn't quite as bad when Thomas and Martha Wayne were alive. Plus wasn't it established that Gordon was the only clean cop in the city?
When the first season finale Bruce's parents got murdered so James could investigate who murdered Bruce's parents and then u have a short moments scene where James question Bruce(a child) wanna know what a murder man look like

This is really all I need to know to be waiting on it to come out.
Unfortunately, I also expect to see and hear a bunch of bytchmade whining about how the series sucks/is gonna suck because it doesn't have apperances or cameos of a young Bruce Wayne, an old Ra's Al Ghul, Joe Chill, a pre-Jokerized Joker or "dat one nikka dat fought Robin dat one time"

i would rather they focus on a show called "Arkham" where they developed a show around the doctors and patients of Arkham Asylum. Based off the games, Arkham does have a deep backstory that they could explore fully in a TV Show similar to "American Horror Story: Asylum". Bats doesn't have to show up, just be the mysterious vigilante that they talk about every once in awhile when he catches these crazy patients or makes the news. Throw in a big villain (Joker, Penguin. etc) occasionally, focus on them for a few episodes until they escape but also have cool crazy patients that never escape. I think it could work

I have always wanted a Gotham Central series so I am pretty pleased with this news and even understand the need to set it pre-Batman just to avoid the same "where is Batman?" issue that always cropped up on the short-lived series Birds of Prey.
I just hope they go dark and gritty with this show and not make it campy or anything. Having dude who wrote for Rome as the showrunner is a good look too.
