this is fukking ridiculous. why can't the ESPN and fox sports be on disney+ or hulu and the TNT NBA stuff on HBO max?

disney is literally about to have 3 separate streaming services. do they really think folks wanna pay for all this bullshyt?

Realistically speaking, it's probably not going to be meant for people that already subscribe to something like Hulu with live TV, since you already get access to pretty much everything with that. It's likely going to aimed at the people who just want sports, with little to nothing else. Since forever, there have been people that complained about having to get cable with a bunch of channels they don't watch in order to watch sports. They finally seem to be giving that option to those who want it. And in doing so, they get the benefit of being able to have better transparency as to what each side is bidding for rights in the near future.

I think people have underestimated that this round of NBA bidding might legitimately have broken the way that rights negotiation works. These companies are feeling the squeeze on both sides with cable revenue declining, and the cost of rights going up. So, they're working their way toward just going direct to consumer in order to take some leverage ba

This will be perfect for people that only watch live sports and nothing more.

What happens with local broadcasted games? I guess that's the last thing traditional cable stations have after this news.

Seeing the names involved this won't be cheap. They better do more 4k broadcasts to justify the price point
