$20,000 is plenty to put a project together, you don't got to sign the act you just need to get their career off the ground. For that I can put together a great product, devise a marketing plan and promote it. I'm hiring a consultant right off the bat and then publicist as soon as we embark on promotion

nikkas don't listen to cds no more... So you got to have a business card/club promo card type thing that is a link to your song on iTunes. Google Play or amazon. Hand them shyts out in some kind of fly way. Put them Code things, that nikkas scan with they phone, put them on the back of your shirts or sumn...

So a nikka walking down the street can just scan that shyt off someone back lol word

But don't hand a nikka a cd no more... lol... The only time I ever listen to a cd is when I listen to something some nikka at the gas station has handed to me. CDs now have that stigma to me, don't hand no nikka no mixtape. That aint gonna work no more, and you can't rely on live mix tapes to do what you can do yourself and make money

If you were on your grind, people would not go to live mix tapes looking for your music, they would go to where they can buy it. Live mix tapes is not making anybody hot, it is simply allowing lazy nikkas to put they music next to a hot nikkas music in a place where people are coming to get the hot nikkas music. But nikkas are only there to hear the hot nikkas music.

In my personal management of an artist. I would stay away from live mix tapes until we had a local following. I would focus on quality songs, and getting a local buzz. It always works. If the hometown fukk with you, you will go national.

This. $20K isn't even enough to get him into a condo to live and put $ in his pocket so he doesn't have to work a 9-5 while being "built" up

And if there's only $20K to blow, chances are that this "label" doesn't have credit so that he can lease a whip(s) and rent a house like Universal does for Tyga.

20k actually is enough tho breh.... a macbook pro with logic/reason, a years worth of rent @ $850-1,000 a month, and leased 3 series BMW is able to be acquired with just that little amount of money.

you've given this rapper the tools to make his own music (generate his own income), a place to eat/sleep/shyt, and transportation.....and that's if said rapper is living on his own, and not sleeping in your basement or some shyt.

What your career gonna need tho. besides 3000 Dollars.

You really think $3000 is all that is standing between you and success?

The car thing is cool. Get a van and wrap it and sell cds and merchandise out that bytch after all your shows around cali. Sleep there if you only got 20000 but $3000 is all you need to blow. Print up your merchandise and get on your marketing game after those shows. And you'll get rent money plus some.
he is a Oakland nikka tho, can't ever underestimate a Bay Area nikkas hustle.

buy a van, a macbook, a low end DSLR camera, sleeping bag,mic...live in the van, get on EBT/hit up soup kitchens or do the continental breakfast/dinner crawl..... collab/build with people for the low, bogart your way into events/video shoots just to network and panhandle.

get a library card and check out books on economics, marketing, and photography to gain knowledge at minimal cost....if you can't find them for free.

every Mcdonalds,Starbucks and most public libraries have free internet.

you can get 1,000 copies of your project pressed up for $899....and you can just get 1,000 CD's for $500.

20k might not be much, but if you take an unconventional approach you can make it work.

that's enough to get on a blog or two if you're good, not make profit or get anywhere close to big

shyt you'd be taking a loss unless you got signed doing that

talmbout living in a van and free internet :wtf: not everyone is a Jay Electronica level talent and can get on while being homeless/close to it

we're talking starting at the bottom tho... getting a blog feature is a big accomplishment for a rapper at the bottom.

you can get featured on certain blogs for as little as $15 a post... if we're talking something like 2DBZ,RapDose,NahRight..of course those are gonna cost more... but we're talking small time first.

dudes like Ab-Soul were doing verses for $20 and songs for $50 a few years ago.

:heh: i'm just saying tho... you could choose to live like such to put all your means into making your career happen... you'll have alot more disposable income to work with right?

homie said you only have 20k to work with, why not make the most of it?

Ill take Jay Electronica. Give him some dope weirdo beats from some up and coming producer, have him spit that hot fire, go on tour around the world, make money, sign him to a contract have him releasing mixtapes only so we can bypass sample clearence and then tour out of the nation and get that underground money.

The hard part is finding a way to keep him motivated.
