It's been time for Frank to retire. Glad he got out instead of them having to give him the boot eventually.

I would have thought he would have went one more season to round it off at an even 30 year run. I wouldn't be surprised if this announcement was to save face and the boosters are finally ready to end the Beamer era. Virginia Tech has been mediocre for so long that just about every D1 program in the DMV has surpassed them.

Virginia Tech only has history to hang its hat on. This change was WAY PAST DUE. IMHO, longer than 5 years ago.

I think he finally sees that he has taken the program as far as he could. He took them from shyt to going to bowls every year, over 20 seasons in fact. The best he could do though is 11-3, 10-4 tops. At this point from a recruiting stand point, they were looking at a lot of 6 or 7 win seasons at best.

If you can't recruit in college football then it's time to walk away. I just wish he would've realized it sooner.

I just hope they eventually evolve like Florida St. and not Miami :sadcam:

They had a Top 5 defense the past few seasons.

If Logan Thomas was Mike Vick they would have gone places. Hell if they had Tyrod instead, would have def played in a NC game.

:salute:

Built up the program.
