'Shadow Of A Doubt' was near nihilistic, in many of it's moments, Gibbs careening towards self destruction, struggling with conflicted introspection. After the near ruinous 2016, 'You Only Live Twice' finds him leveling out, though still sifting through the outer and inner conflicts that make his music so compelling.

The production is more experimental then 'Shadow Of A Doubt', a sort of bridge between the Madlib sound, and the harder edged trap sound, he perfected on ESGN and his last album. Personal tracks, to his past, present and future move some of the albums best moments, including "Dear Maria", with a perfect hook and flow, very experimental beat, "Homesick", where Gibbs recalls his ordeal in Europe last year, and the role, he, and his inner circle played in it.

The haunting defiant tone of 'Crushed Glass', with a brooding Mobb Deep sample, and sung hook, and the laid back 'Alexys', probably the closest to 'Pinata''s best moments, "I first tasted cocaine in the 10th grade", showcases Gibbs at his reflective best. 'Amnesia' is dope boy anthem music, you can feel the fishcale, and the sound of 20's rapidy counted, with residue stained fingertips. It's a near perfect collection of songs, a little short of a real album, but a perfect return.

My fav attribute about Gibbs is how effortless his flow his. Im probably making a reduntant point and its been talked about so many times. But really ya'll this nikka can just flow so easy its like hes not even trying. Like the brotha just talking on records and thats just happens to be how it sounds

Dont wanna go to far into stan territory(dislike stans)

But I think its safe to say Gibbs is the Biggie, ScarFace, Jay of flow for this generation, nikka is the best in that department in this day n age like they were in theirs.:patrice:.... I think so:manny:

I know the usual mainstream artists Drake, Cole, & Kendrick get the praise for being lyricists but Gibbs, Ransom & Conway been as good as any MC the past few yrs

Dear Maria with that Mo Money sample :banderas: Kinda jealous because I was gonna sample that lol

Yup the DJ Fresh project is dope as fukk too. DJ fresh is from the bay. We fukk with Fred heavy out here. He was tight with The Jacka (RIP) along with a lot of underground Bay Area artists. Freddie has been my favorite artist hand down since 2009. He hasn't missed with any of his projects.

You only Live twice solidifies his position as one of the Goats. :wow: Gibbs flow, subject matter and his ear for project is unmatched :wow:

After listening to this mad times, this project is near flawless. I enjoy this more than Shadow of a Doubt because it just flows smoothly with no excess. The only track I don't love is Phone Lit, but it's still cool regardless. This dude experiments with so many flows:wow:. Andrea might be my favorite, but I keep changing my mind. I might add the lil Pronto EP to this collection to make it longer and I think the sounds mesh together nicely.

That last lil flow on 20 Karat Jesus starting at 4:12 was :banderas: Gotta be careful not to drive my car off the road.
