Never heard Rakim battle rap

practically all the respected emcees back then came up battling.

and for what its worth, chill mitchell was on tv-one on the corner that he, rakim & others used to rap on.

If it's true about Wayne's ghostwriters then I would think he's probably not that great of a battle mc unless he's freestyling and practicing regularly. Funny thing about Fredro's Nas comment is I remember reading an interview with Nas years ago (around the time of It Was Written I believe) where he even stated "I used to freestyle all the time... but now I suck". So he has a point that some people are good at a certain aspect of rhyming and some aren't whether they fell off or were never good at it.
