People talk about flow and voice quality a lot but for me the top performance indicator for a rapper is the #barz
Busta on "Look At Me Now" goes absolutely bananas with the flow. But the #barz are quite pedestrian.
Conversely. Phife says "I bust a NUT inside your EYE.. to SHOW you where I COME from." Much less complex and impressive from a structure perspective, but in one bar slays the majority of verses ever put to wax.
