Can only speak for myself but around that late 2000’s era, the first time I ever heard of them was through the affiliation with Dame and doing the BlakRoc album with him. This was around the same time he was working with Curren$y I think. After that I started to hear their names everywhere to the point they were being nominated for Grammys

They were already huge on the festival and live circuit when this came out and albums that came out before this one did significantly better than the Blackroc album did. I’m sure it introduced them to more of a hip-hop fanbase but to say he had any roll in breaking them is just patently false.

I only heard of the Black Keys from DD too , def because of Dame running around NY wit Spitta. I remember seeing Dame at a Spitta concert playing the back.
