Voter participation is only slightly down from 2012, about 5 percent decline. She needed a much larger decline to have a chance.
5% is a big decline to be frank, from what I read participation will be around 74-75% which is the lowest for a 2nd round since 1969. We are usually around 80% in 2nd rounds and if this is confirmed, this will be the 3rd lowest figure out of 20 rounds in the 5th republic.

Fair , my point was she needed a bigger decline in participation to have a fighting chance and much higher abstentions. It played out as you described earlier.

You're right, they're just fine with continuous terrorist attacks and having their country turn into Syria Jr.:scust:.

The French have always been cowardly though, so this is no surprise. Merkel will be the one running that country.
