Friendly reminder that healthcare work sucks specifically nursing homes

I used to work as a non-emergency medical transportation driver who picked up disabled clients. The places I hated going to the most were nursing homes.

As soon as you walk in the door, you’re hit with a wave of strong piss odor radiating through the atmosphere. Idk how anyone could stand that smell for 8-12 hours a day

That Good ole smell of sepsis, and c diff hitting you right in the FACE

That in addition to CHF. And also lack of turning, proper wound care and cleaning on the nurses part.
But these nursing homes are so short staffed that sometimes they just don't have the man power or resources to take care of every patient after an accident.

the majority of them were nice grandmas/grandpas but i got a few wild ones lol. some that liked to disrobe before breakfast

only thing i hated was the hours. had to be there at 4am to start food prep

This shyt is the worst I can go on for days about short staff and no supplies to do said job. The worst is the actual people you take care of I'm not talking about mr doe who don't remember nothing I'm talking about your Uncle Joe who spits in a cup and pees on the floor and they're just here for a broken toe. I got stories for days

No supplies to do the job is the company issue.
The real issue is why people know they aren't shyt but still pay money and send their elderly loved ones there.

My aunt works at a nursing home, has worked in the industry and same nursing home for 25+ years.
She told me never send my grandmother (her mom) to the nursing home.
They purposely hire cheap and terrible workers, over work them, and try to scam money out of the family, down to getting them to sign away their land or other assets to the nursing home for pay.

She said she doesn't understand how people can send their folks their and just walk away.

Sometimes people don't have a choice maybe it's just you and your dad and his mind too far gone that it's not safe to keep him home alone. It is times tho that white people drop off they people and only come during holidays. I had one family come in for their mom birthday stood around her didn't pay her no mind then was lt stinks let's leave that was all in the span of five minutes
