Nah, I know a lotta black people that like the show. The girls in my class were crazy about it along with the office. I never watched friends unless I was at my grandma's house and there was nothing else on TV to watch. Show aint for me but to each their own :yeshrug:

Now always sunny on the other hand...:banderas:

I prefer the black version (ie: Living Single):yeshrug:

I never seen an episode of that cac crap:manny:

Living Single came out a year before Friends. I think it was Queen Latifa, Erika Alexander and John Henton all said Friends copied their idea. Latifa said the owner of NBC was asked which new show he'd take and he chose Living Single. Even the cac Drew Carey said Friends ripped off Living Single.

Any black person that actively watches that corny shiit is suspect.

I always say that it's a really good show and the Coli threads about it would be classic if more posters watched it.

But OP is on crack if he thinks the show was never obnoxious and the characters always acted like real people. Ross by himself was a cartoon. The last couple seasons were :hhh: in comparison to the other ones because they exaggerated the weirdness of the characters too much. Joey became a space cadet, Monica became extremely OCD, Phoebe was an a$$hole, and Ross........Ross had way too many problems. :russ:

They toned down Chandler and Rachel was pretty normal, but the show didn't need to go past season eight. At least the creators know that nobody wants to see a :flabbynsick: reboot.

:ehh: All these years i avoided it because I thought it was corny white people stuff but the reruns on nick at nite got me laughing like crazy, Joey is :russ:

i see why it was so huge now, it’s probably the least obnoxious sitcom I have ever seen, i liked Fresh Prince, Martin, Seinfeld, My Wife and Kids, Saved by the bell, etc but at one point watching all those shows I’ve thought “can these dudes just SHUT THE HELL UP and act like normal people for once :hhh:

i never get that vibe with Friends, its like the writers knew how to scale back the comedic sitcom schtick aspect of the show and have the character actually be grounded, while also being well written and edgy enough to distance itself from corny white sitcoms like Full House and Step By Step

i can’t say I’ve ever finished a FRIENDS episode being annoyed :manny:

Agent post. What's grounded about a group of white friends living in New York City & never even walking past a Black person anywhere, living in nice 1 bedroom apartments when half of them are out of work or making minimum wage, and also sleeping with each other, trading up partners every few years WITHIN the group? That show was pure :duck:

A chick gave me head while watching friends and it was the best head of my life, now I’m totally fine having it on as background noise :ahh:

I used to hate that shyt too and even told her to turn that shif off at first :heh::dead:
Similar experience but for me it was The Office

See I always hear this complaint but to me it was never unrealistic. They was some yuppie cacs from the West Village. No point in having black people for the sake of having black people.

Yeah, the diversity argument was always forced imo. Certain sections of Manhattan are well known for being nothing but white yuppies.

Have you ever been to New York? As a Black person who used to live there, this show's depiction of the city seemed so unrealistic to me. Even the posh areas of the city are more diverse than what the show depicted. Also Joey would never be able to hang with those guys with his unsteady income. It just seemed like some white girl fan fiction version of Living Single.
