You watch this shyt after midnight or when you're too high though and you hear all the canned laughter and see the corniness, people laughing at a fat guy with an eating disorder and some unstable 35 year olds running about, then you understand why people don't like it

Have you ever been to New York? As a Black person who used to live there, this show's depiction of the city seemed so unrealistic to me. Even the posh areas of the city are more diverse than what the show depicted. Also Joey would never be able to hang with those guys with his unsteady income. It just seemed like some white girl fan fiction version of Living Single.

In those areas downtown like the West Village there are very little black people. Just peeped the numbers 81% white, 2% black.

All these years i avoided it because I thought it was corny white people stuff but the reruns on nick at nite got me laughing like crazy, Joey is

i see why it was so huge now, it’s probably the least obnoxious sitcom I have ever seen, i liked Fresh Prince, Martin, Seinfeld, My Wife and Kids, Saved by the bell, etc but at one point watching all those shows I’ve thought “can these dudes just SHUT THE HELL UP and act like normal people for once “

i never get that vibe with Friends, its like the writers knew how to scale back the comedic sitcom schtick aspect of the show and have the character actually be grounded, while also being well written and edgy enough to distance itself from corny white sitcoms like Full House and Step By Step

i can’t say I’ve ever finished a FRIENDS episode being annoyed

it was cool I find out most of the script was all improv
