i been watchin jordan since i was like in elementary school, so i seen all this. i saw him in every finals. mj and bean are my two fave players since i been watchin bball(aside from prime iverson). Jordan was a better athlete point blank period

young kobe coulda done numbers, but he wasn't ready. he was too wild. and we know kobe was emulating jordan so i have no reason to believe he coulda done what jordan couldn't do earlier at those ages w/o a lot of help when he wasn't on that next level mentally yet to be the leader of a championship dynasty.

post shaq kobe was physically and mentally ready and his skill set had evolved w/o his athleticism takin a step back. i just wish he had gotten some help like 2 years earlier. and no he wouldn't have played the same if shaq had just stayed there and tried to step aside for kobe..the dynamic was too weird already

no argument here......Jordan is better. i just prefer Bryant.

When Kobe's athleticism dropped, I knew him reaching Jordan was over. How the hell is Kobe better than Jordan when they both have the same skill set but one is better athletically?

Kobe the closest ever to Jordan..and there's no shame in that.

Jordan had a better inside game

Kobe had a better outside game

Jordan's D was 2x better than Kobe's primarily due to to his insane athletic ability.

Give Kobe Vince Carter's athleticism and handsize, and Ron Artest's D, then maybe he would be better than Jordan.

He would need Jordan's IQ too.

Let's stop over exaggerating here.

Kobe had quicker feet and could move much better laterally than Vince could. Up until around 2009/2010, Kobe was still capable of playing fairly elite defense and even just recently put on a pretty good effort against OKC in the regular season.

Jordan was the better defensive player but 2x? Nah. :mjpls:

Kobe only got his own team at age 27 during the tail end of his prime. He never got to dominate the ball early in his career the way MJ did. As a result, I think this stretch in both their careers (from ages 27-33) is the best objective comparison STATISTICALLY when it comes to comparing Kobe with MJ. Any other point is simply unfair to Kobe Bryant because before 2005 he never had the freedom to dominate the way MJ did his entire career.

Michael Jordan (1990-97) Regular Season (421 games)
Kobe Bryant (2005-12) Regular Season (600 games)
30.7 PPG
28.8 PPG
6.3 RPG
5.5 RPG
5.1 APG
5.0 APG
57.5 TS%
55.9 TS%

Michael Jordan (1990-97) Post-Season (105 games)
Kobe Bryant (2005-12) Post-Season (96 games)
32.5 PPG
29.1 PPG
6.4 RPG
5.4 RPG
5.6 APG
5.2 APG
56.1 TS%
56.4 TS%

Basically what you have is Kobe putting up 29/5/5 on 56% shooting in the regular season vs. Mike putting up 30/6/5 on 58% shooting. The numbers are basically identical with Mike shooting slightly better. However, in the post-season, although Mike's scoring 3 more PPG, he doing it on slightly worse efficiency. He gets one more board a game with assists being basically identical.

I think looking at these stats shows that MJ is NOT CLEARLY better than Kobe when it comes simply to looking at stats. You can make a good argument Jordan is better but its not clear cut as it seems when you simply look at career averages.
:pacspit: thirsty niccas. MJ= (G)Omer (O)z (D)ubar
