The lakers don't go to 3 straight finals if they don't get Gasol. They were 26-13 when bynum got hurt then they traded for gaHOF and the rest is history.

I agree that we don't make 3 straight finals w/o Gasol but it still doesn't change the fact that Kobe turned it around BEFORE the Gasol trade

even before Gasol people were talking about the Lakers as possibly making it out of the west because of the growth Bynum showed

they traded for Pippen (he was drafted by Seattle)

also remember that Jordan didn't do it himself

93 Bulls w/MJ = 57 wins
94 Bulls w/o MJ = 55 wins

:laff: @ MJ making only 2 regular season wins worth of difference

a$$hole the bulls added the best euro player in kukoc, ron harper former allstar and luc longley. They played hard every night even phil said it. The difference is with Jordan they won the title, without him lost in the second round. Also in 93 phil rested MJ and scottie throughout the season because of the olympics so don't let that record fool you. go by there record in 92 which was 67-15

:childplease: How you gon' ignore the fact they won a championship that year? +2 wins and a ship? I'll take that.

The lakers would of been contenders no doubt but i don't see them beating the spurs with just bynum and odom. Also in 08 u had like 4 or 5 teams all hold the #1 spot in the west. It was a weird season to say the least.

So yes Kobe did turn it around a little but the development of bynum was key to their record. Phil started playing him

since you wanna talk about context so much how bout the fact that they lost to the Knicks in game 7......and the Knicks eventually lost in the finals in game 7 to the Rockets

its not crazy to say that if a few balls went the Bulls way they coulda won the title in 94 w/o MJ.......its not like they weren't a contender and it wasn't like Pippen wasn't an MVP candidate and top 5 player in the league that season

no shyt Bynum was the key you stupid muthafukker

no player can win it on his own.....not even MJ

but it still doesn't take away from the fact that Kobe Bryant in 3 years took a team from out of the playoffs to being a contender.....that was my point

Your 2 sentences go directly against eachother.

You admit bynum's development was key, then u try to say Kobe took them to contenders. They were already making the playoffs with Kobe sans 05. They won 42 and 45 games. It wasn't until Bynum developed and they got gasol that they went from ho hum 1st round knockout to finals then 2 titles in a row. Kobe's numbers are worse from 08-11 when they were elite than 06 and 07 when the lakers were fish in the playoffs

Poor Kobe stans trying too hard to hype up their boy in the waning years of his career (by inevitably bringing up ridiculous MJ comparisons).
I almost feel sad for them.

Bynum was injured in the '08 and '09 playoffs and finals. He was injured on '10 finals too. Check the stats. Your point is wrong. But Gasol is dead on.

Bynum was injured in 08 and didn't play at all.

He played in 09 and 10, was hobbled in 09 but his defense on Dwight changed that finals and helped the lakers beat orlando. If Bynum wasn't there in 09 they might not beat orlando. Bynum's a big body so him being on the court affects how your offense wants to play.
