This is his do or die year. If he doesn't get the playoffs, he's fired most likely.
And we go into another rebuild.
Do you brehs think we have the potential to be a playoff sqaud even without MKG?? The East is kinda wide open....
Its possible... Batum is no MKG on defense, but he's still pretty damned good. The loss of MKG will be mitigated by that. Before, there was never any real depth at that position, so when he went down... not only were we losing a DPOY candidate, but we were losing a lot of lineup versatility as well. We're a lot deeper now.
Its gonna be weird though. I was confident going into the season because we ALWAYS had a top defense to fall back on. This year, we'd have a most likely streaky offense to get us through those games where we'd lose 80-74. NOW, Cliff's gonna have to show that he can keep a real defensive team together without the crutch that is MKG. I think its very possible that we sneak in at 8, but I'm not exactly confident in it. We've already made massive changes to the offense (we took more 3s in that one preseason game against Miami than we did for entire stretches last year for starters).
Also, Kemba getting his spot took is a VERY real possibility. Lin's never been in a better position on a basketball team.
I'll always bet on guys in contract years balling out though. We got three, more or less, in Batum, Lamb, and Al. Lin, PJ, and Troy are trying to justify their careers right now too.

Damn.....yall gonna be on the playoffs. I wish MKG was healthy but maybe this worked out for the best. Batum back to the 3 while Lamb and Hairston and Lin peovide 2 scoring.
i know its just preseason
but we can still make the playoffs. love playing lin and kemba together. if al plays like he did 2 years ago, we'll be right there in april and could have mkg back for the playoffs.
i'm back on the hype train for this team
