Absolutely fantastic analysis of Kanye West
@Walt
I agreed with the last post you made about him but this rant was
"You in a cult at that point B !",perfect description, I mean just look at the TLOP thread

You can't even be critical of the painfully simple lyrics or the sleep inducing beats
or the clear employing of carbon copies of current culture darlings.
Kanye West as well as Drake are walking, talking billboards made to shill
Yeezy's and OVO sweaters while spitting shallow faux deep lyrics with most
of them being written by others.
I feel that what you said echo's my own sentiments, this idea that they're truly original or
ground breaking comes from ignorance. It's how Childish Gambino, Hopsin, etc.
squeak on by while being largely mediocre because the general public is only
exposed to a handful of rappers who are.....largely mediocre.
I mean if we take it back to a decade ago and you're apart of the general populace in an
era where gangster rap still reigns supreme and then along comes this guy from Chicago who
represents suburbia, in that light of course he'd come off as ground breaking and mind blowing to
some you.
But that's only the case because they've never heard of ATCQ, De La Soul, Murs, Aceyalone, etc.
If there was a more accurate and balanced depiction of Hip-Hop as music AND culture YEARS ago
I think the current musical landscape of not just Hip-Hop but Black music overall would be considerably
different and better IMO.
