No shock or troll thread but the Fugees are the most overrated group in hip hop ever.

They had a trash debut album that you can't name one track on. Their "masterpiece" only had 3 songs anyone ever fukked with (Ready or not, killing me softly, fu-gee-la). And on top of all of that the two biggest singles were remakes (classic remakes I will add though).

The icing on the cake for me was when Lauryn made her solo album then dissed her 'New Ark' musicians who really helped craft the album and couldn't make another one by herself so she went m.i.a. :heh:

Now we're left with Pras on a milk carton, Wyclef doing gay motorcyle calendars, and Lauryn about to go do that bid.

Miseducation of Lauryn Hill is a classic though :lawd:

Since when were they ever rated. Who really has The Fugees in the Top 5-10 best groups or even 15-25? The only thing they have that gets praise is The Score and deservedly so. LOL @ people only liking 3 songs off that album. Any popular album will have about 3-4 songs tops that are recognizable by casual listeners where people who really messed with the album know the non-singles.

And the only songs people fukk with from Songs in the Key of Life are, "I Wish," "As" and "Sir Duke".

Maybe add Ebony Eyes and Isn't She Lovely to that list and you might be right :skip:

It's a whole selection of Stevie songs people know. The average hip hop fan can't even name any other Fugee songs besides those 3 and they're considered "legends"

Stevie Wonder has multiple classic albums and a host of classic songs. To not know multiple Stevie Wonder songs is a crime and a disrespect to music. The Fugees have ONE classic album. People knowing only three songs is a feat within itself considering there's bigger albums that people couldn't name more than one song off of.

The Fugees are legends. Legends because of The Score and people fantasize about what could of been had they stayed together. When they were together, they definitely made an impact. Clef and Lauryn made a huge impact as solo artists. Even Pras had some success. Even still, hardly anyone has them as Top anything in Hip Hop as a group.

Thats not the point. The fact is you chose three singles and claimed thats all people mess with when in reality...there are other great songs.

Family Business is probably my favourite on the album.

When it comes to hip hop the average person cant probably couldnt name 5 tracks from Reasonable Doubt or the Blueprint. Is Jay not a legend. Are Mobb Deep not legends because the average cat only knows Shook Ones.

Theres a reason ppl like us are called hip hop heads, enthusiasts even aficionados or whatever you wanna say.

agreed they have one solid album thats it

Agreed and I would like to add that it's not even a Hip Hop album. There some Hip Hop, R+B and reggae on there. It's definitely a multi genre album which is one of the reason it sold so many units (roughly 20 million). You had multiple demographics buying it that wouldn't normally just buy a rap album. The program director from Hot 97 said on the Combat Jack show that the album took off on the strength of killing me softly which is R+B/Soul.

On a side note I would have loved to hear The Desert Set on it instead of The Outsidaz.

They had Lauryn. The production was dope, and we all enjoyed seeing her murder Clef and Pras on every damn track. Success.

Period.

THE SCORE is even more overrated also. Only memorable/classic songs, were the singles. Country Grammar should be praised as much or more than this album
