oh yeah, mariah was winnin' like no other in the 90's

from her first self titled album mariah carey to butterfly, mariah was winnin' on all cylinders. she even dropped a classic mtv unplugged and christmas album inbetween studios album too. ain't no other r&b or pop singer for that came out after her seein' her in terms of songs, albums, features etc. she got the classic catalog of songs and albums to prove that.

it's easy for cats now to be like but "beyonce' doin' this or beyonce' doin' that" but for cats who were there and can remember how much of talented and popular mariah was in her prime, they know. for as popular as beyonce' is, she's never been as great as mariah.

mariah is at a point now where she really don't got to do nothin', she's an icon, a legend. she already made a comeback with emancipation of mimi 10 years ago anyway. her legacy in cemented.

beyonce' ain't seein' mariah carey in her prime with singin', the songs and albums. mariah wins.

whitney, mariah and janet. thats the holy trinity of black female superstars of the 80's 90's. of those 3, janet is the only one who made classic music to me. whitney has 3 songs i like. You Give Good Love, I Have Nothing and Shoop Song. rest of that sh!t is pop as fk and not in a good way. clive davis made her music too cac for me.

Mariah initially was the same, i cant listen to her early sh!t. its just vocal showing out. but when she strated fcin with hip hop she got better. Fantasy is a classic. thats about the only dope joint she has. Maybe We Belong Together.

Janet though, 4 classic albums. Control, Rhythmn Nation. Janet. Velvet Rope.
