Ending was so corny and obvious . We all knew he would develop feelings for ellie and seen her as a daughter. ND took the easy way out.

He obviously should of Fukk her in the ass throw her over the bridge If he was going to just give her away easily for a cure and not really know if it will work.

They had other immune people? I doubt it, but then again it's been a while since I finished it. I know they were experimenting with chimpanzees.

You gotta read all of the files you find lying around. They stated there were other immune people, but they weren't able to develop a cure using them

I liked the ending and don't fault Joel for his actions.
Not sure how ND took an easy out, either. The ending was extremely grey and not black and white.
If anything is cliched, it's the protagonist dying to tug on heart strings(albeit, if well written, is admittedly successful.)
That's been done ad-nauseam in the post-apocalyptic genre.
THAT'S predictable.
I applaud them for going a different route and leaving things up to the audience to interpret.
Even more, the real kicker is that Ellie is disgusted with Joel's decision, so despite how he feels about her, she resents him for what she knows he did and depriving her of choice.
Was a good ending that actually deviated from the status quo.
