The fukk is a consultant and what kinda degree does it require
Exactly what it sounds like, you provide advice, management, campaign development, major grant-writing and brand tracking, project production, but mostly advising.
And if you went to an Ivy/feeder-school, any degree w/ a good GPA.
I was offered a position for Political Science and Economics, but you can do it with damn near any other degree if you network properly, intern early, and have a good ass GPA.

Had a consulting internship last year and was offered a job.
I 100% agree with you, fukk consulting.
It was breaking me down as a person, I was real-life working may 30 irregular hours a week on top of another job, and full-time classes.
Had I accepted the offer it would have been 60+ odd hours a week travelling all over the US, barely getting sleep, barely at home, stressed, and jittery.

I completely understand, though Big 3 (MBB) pays well, you have to actually want that kind of unfulfillment. Plus, $110k + bonus feels a lot less exciting when you factor in taxes, COL, the national gym membership, benefits, and student loans.

shyt is just as bad as iBanking/BigLaw w/ more mobility.
You feel me breh. This shyt is for the birds. Im breaking down already. Like legitimately

I worked with some Deloitte consultants for my company a while back. We treated them like slaves :mjlol:.

Had them turning around award winning 30 slide PowerPoint decks with only like a day's notice :russ:.

Got to know a few of the guys and they complained about not being able to hold a girlfriend because they had to travel all the damn time. Imagine coming from an elite college, making 6 figures, and working in a prestigious profession, but you can't even get regular p*ssy because you're on the road 4 days a week :wow:.

I never felt bad for them though. They were all privileged cac yuppies who would turn out fine in the long term. 5-10 years down the road, they'd be general mangers, entrepreneurs, or finance professionals living the privileged life. The consulting track is just a springboard to get them there....

That sh!t is just for cacs though OP. If you're black, don't expect it to be that easy for you .

Its not as it seems. Trust me. That was the point of this thread. There's a fake prestige around consulting.

:smugdraper: “Fake prestige” I know tons of people in consulting and yall make ridiculous money. Flights/hotels/dinners/drinks getting comped. :whew:

Also, why are people acting like there aren’t jobs where you work shyt hours for shyt pay? Most high paying jobs take your social life away. I can’t think of one that doesn’t.

The thing is though the money at some of these corporate gigs sound good, but often if you calculate your hourly rate you’ll be pretty disappointed! Yes you earn double what the next man earns but you work double his hours. It evens out.

On top of that many workers develop reckless and frivolous spending habits. In order to compensate for the emotional and spiritual injuries you will sustain during your working hours, you are likely to develop a wasteful/expensive lifestyle as a form of escape or release. This can come in the form of alcohol, expensive vacations, shopping sprees, more alcohol, recreational drugs and just general nonchalance vis-à-vis money.

Did you miss the piece where you're working like a slave?

Hard to get p*ssy when you're working on a client presentation till 10 pm at night. Plus, you're still representing the firm when you're out on your travels. You share hotel space with your coworkers for example. Can't be bringing in local hoes left and right when a manager/partner is next door.

And when you get back to your home city, you've got 2-3 days to take care of basic essentials and then you're off again.

Consulting adds another layer to it, with most high-paying corporate gigs, at least you can stay in your city every night.
You're travelling 1/2 to 2/3s of the time and stability is lost.
I'd rather work at a hedge fund w/ those 70 hour weeks, and actually be able to go out, chill with friends, go on dates, have someone over, etc with semi-regularity.

Yeah, my stats teacher in HS was an actuary and made crazy cash. Retired by 40 with tons of bread to live off of and became a stats teacher for the hell of it. He seemed to actually enjoy that stuff tho, and he was clear on how it's not a job for everyone :francis:

Stay strong breh :sadcam:
