It really pains me to say it, but im not really feeling the last eLZhi album Lead Poison
I listened to it once and completely forgot about it. My homeboy mentioned the album later which made me realize that i hadnt listened to it since i initially gave it a spin.
GAve it another spin few days ago and i just couldnt get into it.
Whats underwhelming to me personally about it is that he didnt show any of his "technical" prowess. I simply wasnt blown away by any of his verses
Dude is one of my favorite rappers (along with Phonte' hence my username) so he has really set the bar extremely high as far as lyricism goes. What i love most about EL is his rhyme schemes and patterns. He displayed none of that on this album. He simply rapped straightup. No tricks. No patterns. No complicated rhyme schemes. Just easy to follow verses. I mean i enjoyed a few songs but overall he didnt impress me like he normally does LYRICALLY.
There wasnt any dope rhyme pattern moments like his verse on this:
