Dude fukked up but I don't think he should be totally outcast and lose his livelihood. That wouldn't be beneficial for him, the wife, or the children.

In this country people are too concerned with punishment as opposed to rehabilitation. Ostracizing him will only make it more likely that he hits her and/or another woman again.

I'm all for rehabbing people but it only works if you believe you did something wrong- not because you lost your job, not because you're trying to save face- rehab ONLY works if you believe you did something wrong and want to change. I can already tell that neither of them are ready to work on this issue that is very much rooted in some emotional issues (it could take Janay years to get over this stuff even if she left him). You're right in that ostracizing doesn't really work because they'll turn inwards. They're already blaming the media which in turn creates an us vs them mentality and makes the relationship even more insular and resistant to change or outside help. He will tell her that no one understands them or loves them or wants them to succeed. It will drive them even more together and will pervertedly justify any future abuse in their minds.

I'm not saying I know what's going on and that what the media did was okay. All we know is what they tell us and what we have seen from information gathered from abusive relationships. Good for them if they are working on it. From what I know abusive relationships tend be to very manipulative and I can see them using the media firestorm to push aside the event. It's like when families try to help husbands and wives who abuse one another and they argue with them for getting into their business and say they are trying to destroy them or tear them apart. The abuse becomes second to fighting this outside force and they fail to work on it and later blame one another for causing it. I could be wrong - hopefully I am
