Dapcity got the infrastructure. Coli got the community, activity and archive/library of information

Coli is also a reflex for most people - people are creatures of habit - they grab their phones and instinctively navigate to TheColi. Acclimatizing to a new website has a learning curve, and considering most people posting on forums are likely washed and set in their ways - all those features will not mean much to a lot of folks

Coli will win until it's 100% curtains for it, but this website is harder to kill than that 0.01% germs most pesticides and shyt can't get rid of so :hubie:

Yup. Dapcity is ran by good folks, and has active moderation, which is great. They also don't go for diaspora war and incel adjacent babble, which again is great - I'll try to keep up with it as much as I can and have done

but weirdly, a lot of what people consider "cons" for TheColi are actually "pros" for me at this point. I like the simplicity of the presentation of this place - it's easy on the eyes and easy to navigate through

Also, this discussion has been had plenty of times, and I don't think I'll ever land on a permanent stance, but closed registration is not inherently a bad thing for TheColi. Yes, you need new blood from time to time, but similarly - close registration keeps away a lot of the online riff-raff. I damn near know most usernames that post in specific forums (so it weirdly translates to a sense of "community").

Yeah like 95% of posters here have been posting amongst the same people for over a decade

You right because I'm literally too lazy to find my avi again to upload over there.

So I'll post here as long as it's working.

Plus dapcity needs a dark mode like here.
